HEALTHY SNACKS FOR YOUR LEO


Worry about your LEO's meal and snack options while he's on shift? Help him out by giving him a few tasty goodies before he heads out the door! Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Beef jerky

  • Rice cakes (They make so many yummy flavors now, such as cheddar or caramel corn!)

  • Pop some Kettle Corn and put it in a big ziplock bag (Orville Redenbacher has 100 calorie mini bags!).

  • Fiber One bars (Mint chocolate chip, anyone?? The lemon bars are great too!)

  • Mix Special K's Cinnamon Brown Sugar Crunch Protein cereal with Kettle Corn for a sweet little treat

  • Blueberry Muffins (Recipe is courtesy of SparkRecipes - http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=627527)

  • 1 cup flour

  • 1 cup oats

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

  • 2 egg whites

  • 1/2 cup sugar (or a sweetner like Truvia or Stevia!)

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1 cup blueberries (or try bananas, strawberries, raspberries, etc!)

  • Preheat oven to 350. Mix the flour, oats, baking soda, salt and cinnamon together. Add in the applesauce, egg whites, sugar (or sweetner), and water, mix until blended. Add in your choice of berries and bake for 20-25 minutes (until the tops have lighty browned).
